This website will explore how environmental issues affect the residents who live in Hawaii. Evidence has shown that climate change has been a problem for many years but recently it has been an ongoing thing that has been causing environmental justice around us. Hawaii has been affected by the shifting rainfall patterns, rising sea levels, and the change in the oceans’ chemistry which will eventually affect the people who live on the island and the ecosystems. Unfortunately warmer oceans are already leading to increased coral bleaching and disease outbreaks and threatening fisheries. Pollution is a big problem due to the high number in the population. The population is also impacting the quantity of food they have and how expensive the cost of living is because of how hard it is to receive the products from the ships. A lot of this is caused by tourists who are visiting and do not understand that many of the things they are doing are causing damage to the environment that some people call home.
During this research, I found key themes that included population, climate change, inflation, racial tolerance, and tourism.
